Your responsibilities
- Review of annual financial reports prepared in our international offices and implementing testing procedures according to specially developed tests and standards, taking into account the funding guidelines and deadlines;
- Quality control (random checking) of projects and measures of international offices as well as initiation of any necessary corrections;
- Checking bank and cash postings and reconciliations;
- Checking and supporting colleagues in bookkeeping procedures;
- Examination of compliance with the statutory provisions and the rules of the Heinrich Böll Foundation;
- Supporting international offices for the creation of annual financial reports in a timely and qualitatively manner;
- Following audit procedures and examination of audit documentation;
- Supporting the creation or update of regulations and tests necessary for audit procedures (e.g. check lists, internal instructions etc.);
Your profile
- University degree in economics or comparable qualification with a focus on accounting / internal auditing;
- At least five years experience in the field of accounting (preferable in the non-profit sector) or three years experience as an internal auditor;
- Good knowledge and experience in the management of public funds (grants) or the willingness to familiarize in this field;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language (at least level B2). German and Portuguese language skills are an advantage;
- Very good computer skills (MS Office, accounting software, preferable would be knowledge in the accounting software "Navision");
- An analytical approach to work;
- Strong attention to detail with focus on deadlines;
- Solution-oriented and well organized;
- Proven ability to work both constructively in teams as well as independently;
- Gender expertise, intercultural and political sensitivity;
